Duo Synaphé
Angela Kleger and Dimitar Ivanov founded the duo Synaphé to develop new repertoire for multi-string guitars and lutes.
Angela Kleger and Dimitar Ivanov founded Duo Synaphé in 2019 to adapt classical works for two ten-string guitars, focusing on composers not commonly featured in the guitar repertoire. After releasing their debut album Classical Fragments in 2020, they took on J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations, presenting a unique transcription using extended-range guitars. Their innovative tuning and playing techniques preserve the original structure and character of the work while expanding the instrument's expressive capacity. Their performance offers a fresh, expressive interpretation of Bach’s masterpiece, highlighting musical precision and depth and was nominated for the prestigious International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) for 2022.

The new project of the duo Synaphé features works from Renaissance and Baroque era and includes transcriptions from the repertoire of harpsichord, choral music or other instruments in solo or duo for baroque lute and theorbo. The musical expression of those instruments is very sensitive and delicate passing through the silence like a fine filigrane of light through the darkness.
